For its second edition, the nomadic residency program an• other here invites Polynome to envision two artistic and convivial events within the context of Dounia Chemsseddoha and Lisa Hoffmann’s creative residencies in Montbrun-les-Bains.
an• other here is a nomadic art residency, which aims to support artists, curators, and other art practitioners. Each edition happens in a new location, chosen for both historical and cultural singularities, regional ecosystem, and its distance from usual areas of creative activity. an•other here develops and realizes projects that explore intimacy and proximity.
An exhibition brought together the work of Dounia Chemsseddoha and Lisa Hoffmann at the contemporary art venue KOMMET in Lyon in March 2023.

A restitution event co-organized with the an• other here in the frame of Dounia Chemsseddoha's residency.

Dounia Chemsseddoha materializes presences, memories, and apparitions. Her works become artifacts of imaginary, reactivated, or potential rituals. As thresholds to elusive phenomena of emergence and reminiscence, they probe the forces and energies that surround us. By animating or reanimating our emotions and questioning our own conceptions of the sacred and "Nature," the artist envisions her own propositions as interfaces between our inner worlds and the invisible realms.

In the course of her residency, Dounia Chemsseddoha worked with natural elements such as plants, flowers, water, and clay. These are central to her project "anima vegetabilis," conceived with an economy of means and seeking to inquire into the ecosystem and environment of the residency location.
​
During this event, the artist was able to pass on to the audience her research conducted in the region on healing practices and rituals, starting with a performative activation of the pieces produced during her residency. This was followed by a convivial, local, and wild banquet created by "Les Aventurières du goût", as well as an exploration of medicinal plants.

Lisa Hoffmann's work explores transitional states, everyday fictions, and fragments of reality with a particular focus on ecological anxieties and the deconstruction of dominant discourses. Her works take the form of photographs, films, and research documentation.
​
During her residency, Lisa Hoffmann conducted research on walking and anecdotes around Montbrun-les-Bains. Her investigation is based on Strollology or Promenadology, a method of conscious perception through walking developed by the sociologist Lucius Burckhardt.
​
The event began with a performative walk with the audience, followed by a collective storytelling session that gave rise to various forms of encounters and raised questions about the perception of the territory and the practice of documentation. A small editioned object was distributed on the occasion, and the gathered testimonies will contribute to Lisa's ongoing research for the exhibition at the art venue KOMMET in Lyon.
